23 March 2012

One of my closest friends popped round this evening and let me photograph her, focusing on the scar from her heart correction surgery. In a strange way I’ve always loved it, not what she had to go through but it shows what a strong person she is.

  1. respect to your friend!!! greatly captured

  2. Amazing and very strong image. The darkness adds to what’s shown.
Do you know of Miranda July’s “Learning to Love You More” project? Meantime, it’s been published as a book, but in the past, she ran it online.

There was a great assignment, #11: “Photograph a scar and write about it.” – you can find the images and stories, sent in from people all over the globe, here: http://www.learningtoloveyoumore.com/reports/11/11.php

  3. THAT is a stunning photograph…..absolutely perfect. I’m in love with this image.

  4. What a beautiful, strong and emotional photograph. Thanks for sharing.

  5. I agree with Inga! Strong and very emotional shot! Simply great photo.

  6. Magic photo! My partner has the same scar (Heart Valve replacement). You have to be strong, not only physically but mentally as well, to cope and get through the invasive surgery and after effects…
    Great shot…

  7. I’m the same about my scar. Totally unashamed of it. It is part of who I am.

    Very moving.
